2014 TEXAS RAPTOR RUN

Rogue Racing was excited to be apart of the 3rd annual Texas Raptor Run in Blackwell TX. This 3 day event has grown from a small group of Raptor owners getting together on the forums to an event with over 150 Raptors and full line up of vendors.

The Raptor Run takes place on the 5000 acre Texana Ranch and boasts its own 40 mile off-road course with terrain that mirrors that of the Baja. It is not often that Raptor owners get access to miles of off-road terrain without regulation, so it clear why this event draws enthusiasts from all over the country!

Throughout the entire weekend we got to hang out with a great group of people. We were especially lucky to be able to meet directly with our customer base and introduce our line of Raptor products. We were blown away by the warm response we got and the invaluable feedback we received. Saturday night's BBQ hosted by Rogue Racing was a great turnout. We brought along Robby Woods Pro2, not just as a flashy distraction, but to show people that our background is firmly rooted in the off-road race truck world, and that the same concepts we use in our trophy trucks, we use in our bolt on line of suspension. Seeing the reaction of someone who experiences the raw power of a Pro2 up close is priceless, we were glad we got to share that with the crowd.

We took this opportunity to really fine tune and dial in our Stage 2 & 3 Front Suspension Kits as well as the highly anticipated rear cantilever kit. After a little fine tuning of the KING shocks, we set out to hit the trails.....hard, we wanted to abuse these kits and really test their limits. Well, we couldn't have been more impressed with the performance and handling of our trucks. The rear cantilever in particular impressed everyone. Even though we were hitting some pretty decent jumps at full speed the truck seemed to soak up all the bumps and easily handle the big ones.

At one point (even though this event is not a race ;) we passed up 17 other Raptors on the track, Raptors with much more extensive suspension kits on them. The truck handled so well with almost no wheel hop in the area where others created a "washboard effect" in the track. This only solidifies our belief in the importance of a well-tuned suspension kit vs one that simply has more "travel." Our Stage 2 & 3 kits out perform other companies mid & long travel kits.

This event was a great momentum builder for us, we are excited to start rolling out our full line of Raptor products! We would like to extend a big Thank You to Trey Palreiro and the Beal family for putting on such a great event and for showing the Rogue Team such hospitality!

As of right now we are busy setting up our new Laser CNC machine & press brake. We made the decision to move all production completely in house to be able to produce more quickly, efficiently and pass the savings on to our customers!

Stay tuned for more exciting things to come!

THE 2014 LUCAS OIL OFF-ROAD RACE SEASON KICKS OFF!

The LOORRS series kicked off at the Wildhorse Pass Motorsports Park in Arizona. This unique style of short course racing is some the most exciting off-road racing there is. Short course is so thrilling to watch because the spectators are able to see the entire course and feel the power of the trucks up close. This race series is gaining momentum and drawing bigger crowds every year.

We also want to congratulate Rogue Racing's very own, Robby Woods on a solid season opener. His team worked tirelessly to get his Pro 2 fine tuned and race ready. In the end he had a little bit of a bumpy start, but in Round 2 he managed to come from last place and finish fourth.  Woods' racing is fast and he is sharpening his skills with every race, so its going to be an exciting year for him.

Rogue Racing will be out at every one of the Lucas races this year displaying our unique products and meeting directly with the off-road enthusiasts that are the driving force behind our company. We encourage everyone to come to these races and experience off-road racing at it's finest.

As for now we are busy preparing for the Texas Raptor Run on April 10-13th. We will be sponsoring the Raptor Run BBQ and unveiling our Stage 5 "Raptorzilla." Robby Woods will be out there and we also have a few surprises in store for the attendees, but you'll just have to wait till the Run......

THE TRUTH ABOUT TRAVEL...

There is a lot of buzz about the importance of wheel travel, in the Off-Road Industry and ROGUE RACING'S Lead Engineer and Co-Owner, Robby Woods, has taken the time to explain the truth and clear up the common misconceptions.

As a professional Pro 2 Racer, Woods has taken the same core concepts that have led to his success on the track, and applied them to ROGUE RACING'S Performance Suspension line. We asked him to explain one of the most commonly asked questions of our industry, the importance of wheel travel, and you might be surprised to hear what he has to say:

"When it comes to wheel travel people tend to think, "More is better," and in some cases, this is true, but this simplistic way of thinking does not take into account many factors. These factors usually aren't addressed or advertised because most suspension companies have one objective: to sell you a kit. A smart off-road consumer will do their research before purchasing a mid or long travel suspension kit. The easiest route of marketing is more, more, more; More wheel travel, and people usually buy the kit with the "most" wheel travel, not understanding the key factors that most manufacturer's don't address. Factors such as; the adverse effects on components that absolute maximum wheel travel will have. CV joints have an operational range that they will survive within, or a maximum angle that the joint will even travel.  All CV joints have a maximum travel range of 28-32 degrees of maximum angle, not all are the same, some have more, some have less. This is a compound angle (hence the wheel travel and the steering angle COMBINED.) If you look at any new 4 wheel drive vehicle, the Ford Raptor included, they have steering stops that are only effective at bump and droop. This allows full travel and limited steering to protect your CV joint, furthermore, all of the heim joints and uni-ball pivots have a maximum angle as well.

Here at ROGUE RACING, we build all of our components with two things in mind: PERFORMANCE AND LONGEVITY. We limit the last 1 inch of wheel travel in all of our kits to ensure you dont have to replace your CV joint commonly. With an extensive background in off-road racing and tuning, and I believe without a doubt that the determining factor between the best performing trucks are the shocks.

Travel does not determine performance alone, in our form of racing all of the trucks have about the same amount of travel. Performance actually comes down to how well the shocks are TUNED. All shocks are hydraulic cylinders that provide resistance to load or force. At ROGUE we have taken this key concept and translated to our suspension kits. We build our own shim stacks with multiple rates to allow the suspension to have different characteristics over different terrains or inputs. In short, all wheel travel is not created equally and not all suspension manufacturers take the time to focus on a well tuned system. Our custom tuned ROGUE shocks have proprietary high speed, low speed valving, bleed, spring rates, and multiple spring rates in our bypass shocks giving you the most control over the wheel travel available.

If you are considering purchasing another system I encourage you to call those other companies and ask them about the spring rate they use, or if their shocks have speed sensitive valving and what goes into the development of their kit, including the shocks.. chances are you might hear crickets on the other line. So break off from the rest of the pack, and think differently about what you want from your off-road experience and what you want to get out of your truck!

GOT RADIUS?

Rogue racing has just released the throttle bumper.

This bumper is the first to feature a 40" radius lightbar neatly tucked under the front valance. There is no other off-road bumper out there that hugs the radius of the front of the vehicle so closely, and so cleanly.  The throttle is really a work of art, its a low profile yet rugged design that can take you seamlessly on or off-road.
